Dr. Laurence has over 30 years of combined experience in academia and in the private research and development business sector. In addition to a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry, he obtained his MS in Toxicology from the University of Kentucky and his Ph.D. in Comparative Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Throughout his career, he has mentored many students and employees. He has a particularly effective style of teaching and enjoys working with graduate students at all phases of their studies from project inception and design to obtaining their degree.

He offers comprehensive research guidance with a keen sense of content organization and assistance in the clear and focused presentation of data and study results. He brings a diverse range of writing skills to his students and clients as well, including writing and proofreading assistance with their theses, dissertations and preparation of research papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals and other scientific texts.

Dr. Laurence co-founded a private contract research company and mentored many scientists during the 18 years the company operated. He helped steer a number of them into college and graduate school and advised them on an informal basis while they pursued various degrees in biology, chemistry and toxicology.

Dr. Laurence enjoys working one-on-one with graduate students in the development and completion of their research programs and gets great satisfaction out of teaching them the necessary skills to succeed in their academic endeavors and to see them go on into successful careers.
